Windows SmartScreen Notice

When you run the Sammy installer on Windows, Microsoft SmartScreen may display a warning that reads "Windows protected your PC" or "Unknown publisher." This is expected. Sammy is currently distributed without a code-signing certificate, which triggers this warning for all new publishers regardless of whether the software is safe.

How to proceed:

  1. 1Click "More info" on the SmartScreen dialog.
  2. 2Click "Run anyway" to proceed with installation.
  3. 3Optionally, verify the SHA-256 checksum shown above before running to confirm the file has not been modified.

About code signing

A code-signing certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) such as DigiCert or Sectigo eliminates the SmartScreen warning entirely. An EV (Extended Validation) certificate costs approximately $200–$400 per year and requires identity verification. We plan to add code signing in an upcoming release. Until then, the SHA-256 checksum above is the recommended way to verify download integrity.
